Sai Baba assures
grant for hospital

BANGALORE June 13
A sum of
Rs 700
crore for an ultra-modern
hospital at Whitefield in the
City
and a drinking water scheme in
Bellary district has been assured
by Satya Sai
Baba
of Puttaparthi.
This was informed to
the
presspersons by the rural develop
ment minister, Prakash.
here today.
The rural development minister
said that the assurance was given to the chief minister, Mr J H Patel and himself during their
visit to the Puttaparthi seer along with some other top officials at Whitefield today.
Mr Prakash said that Sai Baba
had expressed his willingness to spend Rs 300 crore for drinking water scheme in Bellary on the
lines of a similar scheme implemented in
Anantapur district of Andhra
Pradesh. The minister also assured that the proposed scheme will he implemented within a year, he added.
The rural development said that
Baba has requested for land in Whitfield for a proposed Rs 400 crore hospital at Whitefield, which
will serve poor patients. Accordingly, the chief minister has assured the grant of 50 acres of land
for the purpose, Mr Prakash added..
The chief minister was
accompanied by the industries minister, Mr B L Shankar, the Principal Secretary to the Chief
Minister, Mr B S Patil and the industries secretary, Mr Vishwanath.
